I got this article from: www.pcworld.com by Jon L. Jacobi

Portable Hard Drives: A Terabyte in Your Pocket.

Good things come in small packages--and when it comes to storage, the saying couldn't be more true. No matter what size your data set is, you can find a stylish, pocketable wonder of modern miniaturization to store it and transport it.

Tiny Size: Car keys (left) aren't out of scale with Samsung's 120GB S1 Mini and WD's 500GB Elite drive.

All portable storage units do basically the same thing, but these days they come in more flavors than you'll find at Baskin-Robbins. PCWorld Labs tested 22 models, from the credit-card-size Samsung 120GB S1 Mini to the latest capacious yet svelte 1TB Seagate FreeAgent Go and Western Digital My Passport Essential SE 1TB drives. We tested dockable models, ruggedized units, and multiple-interface units that can connect to almost any PC. Many of them came with surprisingly capable customized software packages that pop up the minute you attach the drive.

Free Tools for Windows 7 Setup

I just got this article from pcworld.com I'm sure this might help those who are now using or just about to set-up the so-called Windows 7 the latest operating system of Microsoft.

Here are the free tools for Fine Tuning Microsoft Windows 7 Setup.

Ninite
A new service that automatically downloads and installs popular software.

All you do is scroll through Ninite's list of 70-odd apps, check-marking the ones you want. The service offers the most current versions of nearly every popular mainstream program, including Firefox, Skype, OpenOffice, iTunes, Picasa, Steam, and Revo Uninstaller.

Xmarks

Available for both Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer, Xmarks automatically and effortlessly synchronizes your bookmarks between PCs and the Web.

If you were already using it, just install the program in your new Windows 7 partition, sign into your account, and presto: All your bookmarks will magically appear in your browser. (All your Web-site passwords, too, assuming you configured the tool to sync passwords.)

If you weren't using Xmarks before, start by booting back into your previous version of Windows, installing Xmarks, and setting up an account. (Don't worry, it's free.) Then you can jump back into Windows 7 and install Xmarks there.

Bonus Tip: Make Windows 7's Taskbar More Like Vista's

Here's how.

1. Right-click on any open area of the toolbar and choose Properties.
2. Click the "Taskbar buttons" pull-down and choose Never combine.
3. If you really want a more Vista/XP-like taskbar, check the "Use small icons" check box. Me, I like the bigger icons.
4. Click OK.

How to Avoid Koobface?

I got an article from www.about.com on how to get rid of these Computer Worm especially the so-called Koobface.

How To Avoid Koobface and Other Social Networking Worms

By Mary Landesman

Koobface is a classic example of a worm that spreads via social networking sites such as Facebook, Bebo, and Friendster. Koobface has been particularly problematic for Facebook users and maintains a rather consistent presence among Facebook social network users. Following are four easy-to-follow tips that can help you avoid infection by Koobface and other social networking worms.

Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: Ongoing

Here's How:

1. Avoid promiscuous friending. Spammers, phishers, and worm distributors abound on social networking sites. Rather than attempting to win an imaginary and virtual popularity contest, demonstrate your self-confidence and restraint by not accepting friend invites from strangers. Your real friends will appreciate it.

2. Log out of the social networking site when it's not being used. Worms like Koobface can only spread when you are logged on to Facebook or other social networking account. Staying logged off when not in use can help minimize the potential for spreading Koobface or other social networking worms.

3. Use a unique strong password on each account. If you have multiple social networking accounts, use a unique password for each. For an easy to remember secure method, see: Creating and Maintaing Strong Passwords.

4. Never click links in messages received unexpectedly and never, ever login to any site as a result of clicking a link in a message. If you do follow a link that instructs you to login afterwards, close the page, then open a new page and visit the site using a previously bookmarked or known good link.

Microsoft Zune Goes High-Def

The world got its first glimpse of the Zune HD in May 2009 at the Wall Street Journal's All Things Digital conference. The Zune has often been ragged on in the past for trying too hard to emulate the iPod and for copying Apple's iTunes Store model with Microsoft's Zune Marketplace. But the Zune HD has some features that the iPod Touch doesn't and also brings some much-needed changes to the Zune line's hardware, software, and Marketplace. The Zune HD boasts a 3.3-inch OLED touch display, high-definition video output, HD radio, a finger-friendly browser, Wi-Fi, and an on-screen keyboard.

While these specs are certainly impressive, they might not be enough to put the Zune HD ahead of the iPod Touch. The real edge Zune will have will be the revamped Marketplace: Microsoft revealed plans to bolster the Marketplace's video collection (both TV and move downloads) as well as to house video downloads urrently available to the Xbox console. Microsoft hasn't disclosed any details on pricing, capacity, or available colors; however, the company expects to launch the Zune HD in fall.

Below are Other Hot Portable Media Players with innovative features such OLED touch display, high definition output and more.

Apple Tablet is Real

The rumored Apple Tablet is absolutely true. Someone claims they've actually seen the thing.

Apple Tablet Prototype is Real, Nov. Launch Expected, says Report

Mr. Analyst says Apple is going to have a final design ready in the next six weeks, and the device would then be announced in September for a November launch. The Apple tablet may also break your bank, costing you a whopping $699 to $799. But for those big bucks you'd get a device that would be able to, among other things, play high-definition video. While other features might be nice, it sounds like the Apple tablet's video capability is the feature to beat. The anonymous source says the device's video quality "is better than the average movie experience."

Sony Ericsson's Upcoming Android Phone

We've known for some time now that Sony Ericsson (SE) is working on a Google Android-based mobile phone, but the company has been keeping mum on details. However, pictures leaked by a Danish site appear to reveal Sony Ericsson's upcoming Android phone, and it looks like a good one.

Code-named Rachael, Sony Ericsson's Android phone will be announced later this year, according to information obtained by the Danish Mobil magazine. The phone will be part of SE's XPERIA series, which so far includes the Windows Mobile-based X1 model.
And as SE joined the Open Handset Alliance in December last year, it was shaping out quite clearly that the Swedish company would join the Android-running smartphone army. Mobil says that the Android-loving SE Rachel is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon platform (QSD8250), wich would give the phone processor speeds of up to 1GHz and 7.2Mbit per second HSPA downlink speeds.

The leaked pictures also show the SE's upcoming Android phone featuring an 8.1-megapixel camera with autofocus and flash. At the top of the phone a 3.5mm headphone jack and a miniUSB port are also present. No specific details on the phone's display size or resolution were released, but the Danish magazine says it has a pressure-sensitive touchscreen.

Some of the specifications of SE's Android phone are looking very good in comparison to other smartphones on the market today. An 8.1-megapixel camera would be most powerful on an Android handset yet, and remarkably better than the 3-megapixel camera on the latest iPhone 3GS. On the Android realm, the HTC Hero and the Samsung Galaxy have only a 5-megapixel camera.

It's highly likely that SE's Rachel will run on the upcoming 2.0 version of Google Android operating system, which is also expected to be released toward the end of this year. As for Adobe Flash, it is yet unclear whether this phone will feature this capability.

Motorola's Karma QA1 Phone

Motorola unveils their latest phone Karma QA1 and was distributed in the market Last Sunday, June 28, 2009.

We all know that Motorola is also one the big companies that developed and produced stylish mobile phones in the market hence,Karma QA1 is another great innovation. I'm sure people will surely like it.

Motorola's Karma QA1 slider phone aims squarely at social networking butterflies, allowing them to flit between Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and other services with a minimum of keystrokes.

The compact 3G/quad-band GSM phone, available today from AT&T Wireless ($79 after rebate with two-year plan), measures 3.5 by 2.5 inches and has a two-megapixel digital camera/camcorder with 8X digital zoom and an assisted GPS (aGPS) receiver. A stubby, but serviceable QWERTY keypad slides down from behind a 2.5-inch QVGA display.

The glass faceplate (as opposed to lighter plastic) gives the unit a small bit of heft and a solid feel, but at 5 ounces, the unit is lightweight. Large home screen icons identify the social networking services, which are accessed via a large mouse button, while the QWERTY keyboard is large enough for comfortable thumb typing. The phone keypad is embedded on the left side of the QWERTY array.

Multimedia features include large speakers, a digital music player capable of playing back RealAudio files, streaming video support, and a microSD slot for removable media with capacities of up to 16GB. Also included is the AT&T Navigator turn-by-turn street navigation application.

Text messages are stored in conversation format, making it easy to keep up with the thread of a series of messages and the camera and camcorder can be used to upload content to social media service.
